1981 Laotian “Stickless Thai” soaked resin into the packing label. Saved all this time, a sample of this label was sent into #PureAnalytics. THC degrades to CBN over time. #THCV was always around.
In 1981, Laotian “Stickless Thai” resin soaked into the packing labels of Gold Star Co. Ltd. Imported into the USA during the pre-regulated market era, the Laotian ganja had an unmistakable psychoactive signature—euphoric, uplifting, and long-lasting. The joints were so resinous that they left both the lips and the labels covered in sticky residue.

Fast forward to 2019, a preserved sample of this resin-laden label was tested by Pure Analytics. The certified results revealed levels of THCV, a compound we couldn’t have identified before the release of modern standards. Interestingly, both types of labels—featuring a Sparrowhawk named after Phil Sparrowhawk and marked “Passed Inspection”—came in different sizes. These labels were part of the last major imports of Thai/Laotian ganja into the USA in 1987, marking the end of the large-scale pre-regulated market imports.
